MARLEY THE GLAM GOTH: FEMALE CEO

Tori Green: Who are you? What do you do?

Marley: Marley, I'm the Founder & CEO of Glam Goth Beauty, Influencer, Model

Tori: What was your first business (including running your own business)? How long did this last or are you still involved in the same business?

Marley: Glam Goth Beauty is my first and only business and I've been running it for 6 years.

Tori: Biggest challenge? How did you get through it?

Marley: Drug and substance abuse since high school, by having self love and being focused and dedicated to my career and helping others do the same.

Tori: What is something that you wish you could go back and tell yourself before starting this

journey?

Marley: To stay in the fantasy, have faith no matter what, stay disciplined and

don’t let loneliness distract you from what’s important. Everything you need is

right in front of you.

Tori: What did you do before owning your own/running your business?

Marley: Professional Makeup Artist & Waxing.

Tori: What/who made you take the first leap?

Marley: My followers on social media constantly ask me to make products.

Tori: Who was the first to believe in you and give you real support (financial/sweat equity)?

Marley: My mother, she gave me the money I needed to start beauty school and let me run

my business in her basement.

Tori: Was this your dream job? If not, what was?

Marley: My dream job was fashion journalism, design and styling. Shortly after that it was runway makeup.

Tori: Why did you get into this field?

Marley: I wanted to work for myself and make money being an artist.

Tori: What is your biggest failure that you turned into a success?

Marley: Dropping out of college due to PTSD, I was able to accomplish basically what I was going to school for without the degree.

Tori: If you could change one thing about your life today for the better, what would it be?

Marley: Not rushing business relationships.

Tori: How is your life/work balance? Body, mind, and soul weekly routine?

Marley: It's pretty hard to find any type of balance when your work is literally your life and how

you showcase it through social and art. I try to make time to relax, read poetry, and have some nights out with friends.

Tori: Do you say/write out affirmations?

Marley: Yes, all the time! I even wrote my own and called them “Glam Gang Affirmations”.

Tori: When was the last time you tried something new/ Stepped out of routine?

Marley: I’m learning how to DJ which is a lot of knowledge to take in but super fun!

Tori: Favorite book that changed your life?

Marley: “if you have to cry, go outside” by: Kelly Cutrone.

Tori: Do you think your gender gives you an advantage or disadvantage in today’s world?

Marley: Definitely both, I get scrutinized for the same things I get celebrated for.

Tori: Have you experienced different treatment from your peers of the opposite sex?

Marley: Yes, all the time. Always getting objectified, bimbofied, and of course gentrified,

meaning they want to water me down to make them feel comfortable.

Tori: Thoughts on the glass ceiling?

Marley: As long as white men remain in power the glass ceiling will always be there, but that's why we need to continue to lift each other up as women so we can continue to break it down.

Tori: What advice would you give your children/ future children about succeeding in a patriarchal society?

Marley: To stay in their fantasy no matter what.

Tori: If you could talk to a young boy/girl from your hometown neighborhood who aspires to

have your career/job/focus what would tell them? Advice.

Marley: I would tell them they are so much bigger than where they are from and not to think or be small in any capacity. Don’t be afraid to leave and have life experiences because if things

don't work out you can always come back home to re-plan and execute.

Tori: Fun fact about you?

Marley: I love to read and write poetry and songs in my free time.

Tori: Number one piece of advice you remember?

Marley: Work hard and keep the faith and choose your battles wisely.

Tori: Anything coming up for you that you want to talk about?

Marley: Store product expansion, including clothing, jewelry, fishnets, corsets, makeup, and events!

Tori: Where can we find you online?

Marley: Instagram, tik tok, and youtube is all under @theglamgoth and my brand/store

website is glamgothbeauty.com
